WatchPlant Project, leaded by ITE, arrives to Alcalá de Henares University
The Instituto Tecnológico de la Energía (ITE) leads a European Project with other expert and specialized partners in different working fields. From the ITE, the technician coordinator of this Project, Dra. Laura García Carmona, showed last 4th of February the WatchPlant Project in the University Master’s Degree in Chemistry for Sustainability and Energy of the Alcalá de Henares University (UAH), in Madrid.
The goal of this Master’s Degree is providing students with a specialized training in Chemistry, oriented to the Sustainability, specially in the chemical and energy production. The studies include subjects oriented to understand how the chemistry can provide sustainable solutions to the creation of chemical products and materials, the environment protection, the natural resources use, and the creation and storage of energy.
Precisely, WatchPlant is a good example of this type of sustainable solutions, because this Project consists of a biohybrid system technology for in-situ self-powered monitoring that allows plants to wear all components and technological interfaces, which results in creating of “Smart biohybrid organisms” for environmental monitoring.
